I was a little worried that the bars attach with a push pin style attachment system, but it does seem to be holding up and if you want to remove just the bars sticking out for whatever reason, it's pretty easy. The cushion is nice but there's a gap in the middle. The metal is smoothly painted. The height between the bars is enough to put a couple boards stacked, but not sure about the weight bearing if you put heavy logs stacked. So far it's perfect for my 4 of my short and mid sized boards
