Picked a pair of these scoops up to use with 5 gallon Home Depot buckets filled with Calcium Chloride, the gray chunky version. These scoops are more heavy duty than I thought they'd be, perfect for my use. They're slightly smaller than I though but that's actually a good thing here. I was using empty metal coffee cans to toss around the salt but I'd end up tossing too much at times, wasting it. With these scoops, you have more control and waste less.An aside, I keep a bucket near the front door and another in the back of my SUV, each with its own scoop. VERY handy, the one in the SUV as it makes getting stuck on ice a lot less possible.

Using this scoop for fresh cat litter. Its solid and thick plastic, comfortable to hold and is a good size.

I use it to scoop manure, potting soil, etc., out of big bags I buy, or from a pile that's been dumped out. My community has a get-it-yourself compost pickup location (beautiful light, fluffy, finished compost) and I use this scoop to fill my little buckets (I'm old and can't handle larger containers so I just get a couple of 3-gallon buckets of compost at a time).As you can see from the reviews, lots of potential uses. Well made. I think you could scoop up rocks without it breaking.
