I gave this as a gift and they loved it, said it is easy to follow and they were making more progress than they thought they would, was a much appreciated gift, glad I bought it

As a complete newcomer to harmonica playing, albeit with a little guitar knowledge, the choice of instructional books here & elsewhere was quite overwhelming. I settled on this title mainly going by the amount of reviews it had received & how many of those were four/five stars. Of course this can often be misleading if you find the style is not for you, but on this occasion I find I've made the right choice.Focussing on the 10 hole diatonic harmonica in the key of C, the book gets straight on with job, with a brief introduction to the book & how to use it; table of contents; harmonica notation & helpful advice on selecting & caring for your harmonica. There are no lengthy details on the history of the instrument, or unnecessary biographies of notable players as you can often find in this type of book, which doubtless have their interest factor, but are often used to pad the book out & don't add anything to learning the nuts & bolts of playing. There are over 20 simple songs to learn, all with standard notation & tablature. The songs are traditional classics, eg. Amazing Grace, Tom Dooley, Oh When The Saints etc, and being an American publication tend to have a bias towards that country's style. Some titles were quite unfamiliar to me here in the UK, but others such as Silent Night & Jingle Bells will have universal appeal. The icing on the cake is the free access to over an hour of video instruction & song tutorials with author Tom Wolf, who is a likeable & easy to follow teacher.I'm very pleased I chose this book.

My grandson that had never seen a Harmonica, picked up that book and harmonica and played Mary had a little lamb right off. He's 13 years old. I'm so proud. I had the harmonica here at my house for over 30 years. I had bought it at an estate sale long ago. It was cute and in a little case. I thought I might learn to play one day. Well I was cleaning up getting rid of things and looking for things I might sell to make a little money for Christmas. I came across the harmonica and smiled. I texted my son, and asked him if any of his kids were musically inclined. He said yes. So I gave my son the harmonica Thanksgiving. I purchased the book to give him before he picked up the harmonica, so maybe it would give him a clue as to how to play. The same day he got the book and harmonica, he was playing up a storm! I'm so proud, and happy. Hopefully he will take more time and learn more of the songs in the book. Thank you for such a a easy book to learn from.
