Much better than I though. Great deal of options and very bright if needed.

A different kind of light to the gas lamps of the 80s. A quick Google suggests those were around 1000 lumen so a couple of stops brighter. This light is a lot more compact (even pocketable) and easier to use.The red light can stay as a night light overnight with very little battery use. The downlight seems quite useful when hung from a tarp as shown. This has been on Scout Camp a few times now in all weathers. A couple of times it has served as a marker light on a tarp guyline so that people didn't trip. It managed this, showing red light, all weekend in torrential rain without issue. It's quite muddy now from the splashed mud, but still working. I don't think it's rated immersible. It was standing on its base not lying in mud. Rain was not an issue for it.

Does what it says quite well, but at around £60+ it's a bit expensive. Quite robust.

If you are looking for a “one device does it all” light/lantern for camping, or any outdoors activities after dark, you will not be disappointed with the multiple features and functions it offers. If you are camping in a tent, socialising outside with a caravan or motor home, or even just in your back garden, the various options it offers meet pretty much every need for a family or small group of people. The benefit of being able to charge it from any USB source, phone charger (home or car) or even a portable battery-bank - including various solar options too, is really impressive. It offers multiple white light levels (and associated battery run times) from the main light, but an option few would consider of benefit (until they’ve used it) is the half light setting. This illuminates only half of the circumference of the lantern, so you can place it at the side of a tent without shining unwanted light outside - and of course you cut the battery use and increase the run time too. You can also use it on a table so it doesn’t shine into people’s faces. The light under the base (again with multiple level options) is great if hanging the lantern in a tent to light the floor, and you can also use it as a handheld torch to point light where it’s needed. Finally it has a red light setting; the static light makes a great night light in a tent - we leave it on (all night) once dark in the main living area, should you need to move around without disturbing others - and it can also flash which makes a great warning light, and makes it easy to find your way back after dark too.Cheaper options are available, but if you want quality, multiple lighting options, good battery run time (oh, and it’s pretty waterproof too), then this lantern/lamp doesn’t disappoint.
