This cable has connectors that are narrow enough so that they do not prevent plugging other cables into adjacent Firewire ports. Prior to getting this cable, I was using a Firewire 400 (6-pin) cable with a Firewire 400/800 adapter (i.e., 6-pin/9-pin), but the adapter was just wide enough to block the adjacent Firewire 800 ports.This cable is well constructed, perhaps not as robustly as other cables, and it works very well.

Una maravilla, este cable en el centro de la CDMX me lo cobraron en una barbaridad. Por 15 cm 500 pesos, en Amazon lo encontré muy largo y a un precio mucho menor.

After reading negative reviews of other similar-sounding adapter cables, I was a little hesitant. However, I've never had an issue with other StarTech products, so decided to give it a try. It arrived in much less time than the estimate, is well-made and works just perfectly. This adapter allows me to connect my legacy film scanner (with Firewire 400 output) to my current Mac, using Apple's Firewire 800 female-to-Thunderbolt adapter. Highly recommended.

this handy connector came to the rescue when i needed to plug my firewire 400 devices into a Macbook Pro which is only equipped with firewire 800 - marvellous
