In a nutshell, this is a form fitting hub that trades one of the Mac Mini’s rear 40 Gbps Thunderbolt ports for a 10 Gbps M.2 MVMe SSD slot, two 10 Gbps USB-A ports, an old school 640 Kbps USB-A port and a UHS-II speed SD card reader. To me, this is a good, not great, trade off. USB-A only serves legacy devices at this point, and personally I’ll never have need again for two 10 Gbps USB-A ports, especially when only one can be used self-powered at at time. On the other hand, I’ll take faster SSD speeds every day of the week, so a 20 Gbps and two 640 Kbps USB lots would have made me happier. The case itself is well built featuring an aluminum shell that matches the Mini. The top and bottom of the case, however, are plastic. That does make me a tad nervous with the SSD sitting at the bottom. However, the top of the SSD slot does have some built-in heat dissipation. The M4 Mini sits on top of it perfectly, with a small gap to promote airflow. The top left corner is smartly cut out to give easy access to the power button. I don’t turn off my Macs often, but crashes do happen, as do vacations, so this is a nice solution to Apple’s hairbrained placement of the power button.Four rubber bumpers on the top of the hub is all that secures it to the Mini. It works well. The USB-C connector is built-in, which I would be neutral on except that this design would be better if it was a right angle to hug the Mini rather than stick out as it does.Bottomline, this is a good design that adds a lot of missing capabilities to the M4 Mac Mine. It could have been better, but if wishes were horses beggars would ride, right? Satechi is a well-known peripheral brand and I’d rather have one of their products with fewer features than a full featured version from a no-name with unknown quality control. Like the hub itself, its price is neither terrible nor outstanding, but something I can live with for what it does.

Good product. Adds more ports to the mini and love the ssd mini card underneath the bottom. Great value for the money. Exact color as the mini.
