I'm not using the SR-IOV functions at all. I'm basically just using it as a quad port 10g adapter for VMware vSphere 8. As it turns out, VMware has disabled use of the Melanox ConnectX-3 and I needed something quick to get up and running ASAP. This one had same day delivery in my area. It really pained me to pay $200 for a network card, but the XL710 are top notch and this one was installed, up and running in less than 5 minutes.

Lo he usado para aumentar la velocidad de conexión de mi equipo principal, ya que la NIC de la paca base solo es de 1Gbps . Con esto y un cable categoría 6 alcanzas mayores velocidades de transferencias. Me gusta que disponga de un disipador pasivo para el RTL8125B para que no baje el rendimiento. Ha sido conectar y listo con Windows 11.

Después de leer y mirar por varios foros de proxmox. No he tenido manera de hacerla funcionar. Cuando conectas el cable se pone a funcionar, pero al rato no responde a los pings, pero sigue dando como si estuviese conectada. En windows no la he probado, pero para lo que quería no me ha servido

Cannot seem to drive these NICs to full speed, 30 IT career technician, I have stress tested NICs in labs for years. Yes RealTek sometimes gets bad reviews but some of their ICs work better than others. My test infrastructure can do greater than 2.5 GBE with ease. But am barely getting above 1GBE performance

I have basically no complaints with the dual 2.5GbE NIC just make sure your pcie Gen is compatible with the speeds and you should be fine. In linux it was detected with no issues. The only issue I did encounter was my NIC interface names all shifted with the actual ports (enp2s0 became enp4s0) which caused mayhem with my network configurations. Just be aware of this and a clean network configuration shouldn’t cause issues.As far as I know it doesn’t have heat issues, something I was curious about considering many nics have heatsyncs if in doubt you can always add a tiny heat sync later attached using a thermal pad.

Updated to reflect success in using this card.Use a Debian based distro for Linux. The RHEL based distros do not have a suitable driver. I was able to get the expected data transfer of 1.5 GBPs from my cable modem service provider once I had this driver in place.

If you have the correct transceivers you can use the card with 10G fiber or copper connections by using either an optical transceiver or an ethernet one. I needed two multimode optical ports in addition to the 10G Ethernet ports I already had so I ordered this card and two multimode fiber transceivers. Everything worked like out of the box without any issues.
