I too ordered the book in advance and it was listed then as a gtab, ie guitar tablature book. Such books contain transcriptions of the actual guitar parts on the recordings in both standard musical notation and 'music by numbers' tablature. However the book that I received was a traditional PVG book. Piano vocal guitar books contain the melody line and a stylised arrangement of the recordings to be played on piano combining the melody with sme degree of accompaniement. They also have chord diagram boxes. typically in the root position. In essence, the PVG format gives you neither the keyboard parts played on the records, nor the guitar parts. It's purpose is to let you play the songs independently on the piano or to strum along on guitar. The tablature book will be on sale shortly and so those wanting to play the actual guitar parts will have to be patient for a little longer

So, I bought this book well in advance of release, getting it as soon as it was out. I saw it was for 'piano, vocal, guitar.' I thought, excellent! Just like the OOS and Absolution books, guitar tabs for the guitar parts, standard notation for the piano.. Wrong. In this book, it's basically entirely given to you in piano, standard notation. With chord symbol boxes above. So, while it's not too difficult to work out the guitar parts for someone who's used to it, for a more amateur music reader, it'd be quite difficult, compared to tablature, which is seen to be by many, the easier way of reading music for guitar. This aside, the actual music is brilliant, spot on in most places, as far as I can see. As far as music goes, guitar-wise, absolutely excellent. Not tried out any of the piano as of yet but when I've played the chords on guitar, they sound just right mostly.Definitely a worthy purchase for the avid Muse fan, but if you struggle to read standard notation and prefer tablature, you might want to pop into a shop and take a flick through before you buy and see the chord symbols alone are enough to help you. They are fairly clear and straight forward to work out, although in some cases, such as in Guiding Light, the chords given are standard chords at the low end of the neck (frets 1-3ish), while the chords played in the song are more around the 8th-14th frets. Again, if you know your notation, it's easy enough to just switch these, but something else I feel more amateur players should be aware of before purchasing this particular book.
