The size of the Inateck Barcode Scanner is extremely portable. It easily slips into a pocket when not in use, and being wireless, there are no wires and cables to encumber you.The USB charging port is on the bottom of the device. There is one button on the scanner itself. Press and hold for power, and press and release to scan. Everything has to be configured through the app. There is no menu system on the scanner itself. You must use the app or programming barcodes (which I haven't fully found yet) to program it. It defaults to USB receiver mode. Bluetooth is a separate connection mode and is selectable in the app. Some 1D scanners can be changed by scanning programming barcodes, and I was hoping the same is true of this unit. I know it's possible. The user guide says, "scan the 'Inventory Mode' or enable the 'Inventory Mode' on the Inatech Scanner APP." The Inatech website does not show this scanner on their support page, but other similar scanners have user guides with scannable QR codes, and at least a few of those codes work for this scanner.Initially I had minimal configuration options in the Android version. So I downloaded the iPhone app on my work phone and was able to access all features, including setting the volume, setting the scanning mode, etc. The Android version detected the scanner model but had a generic barcode scanner for the icon. Before writing this review, I checked the Android app again, and now I have full access to all settings. The app was updated 5 days prior to this review, so my assumption is that this issue was fixed at that time. The menu system is simple to navigate, although I struggled initially with finding the settings I needed. For example, "inventory mode" is what you need to use the scanner offline. It's located under "Setting" > "Cache Management" but I look for it under "Setting" > "Connection Mode." Connection Mode is how the data gets from the scanner to whichever device (Bluetooth or Receiver), so it made sense once I understood that. Once I used it a few times, I understood the menu configuration. The battery life seems really good. I haven't used it enough to require a recharge yet, so I can't comment fully on it.I have 2 complaints about the product, hence my reduction of 1 star. The biggest complaint is the USB receiver. It's big. It's 7/8 inches (22 mm) wide and 1 3/4" inch (44.5 mm) long. It's so wide that I cannot use the USB port next to it on my work computer (HP Elitebook 650 G9). This is not a problem on my personal computer, a Dell G16. I have other wireless scanners that have USB receivers 10% of this size. The length also means I'm more likely to hit it on something as I'm carrying it, and it also affects the space I need when I set my laptop down. If I purchase a short USB extension cable, I can resolve this issue. I assume the receiver size has to do with the receiving antenna. The second complaint is targeting a specific barcode can be tricky. There is a red navigation light that you can use to target a specific scan code, but sometimes it picks up a code other than the one I need. If you've ever seen the labels on a computer hard drive, you'll know there are multiple labels for model, serial number, CT number, and more. I haven't spent the time to figure out why sometimes it only scans the targeted code and other times it scans the first thing it sees.Overall a good scanner. I just need to find a programming manual for it that has all of the programming bar codes so I don't have to use the app to configure it all the time.

The Inateck BCST-47 Bluetooth Barcode Scanner offers a convenient and versatile solution for scanning 1D, 2D, and QR codes. The wireless design, with both Bluetooth and 2.4GHz connectivity options, provides flexibility and freedom of movement. The built-in screen is a helpful addition, displaying scanned data for quick verification. The scanner is compatible with various apps and SDKs, making integration into existing systems relatively smooth. While the setup might require some technical know-how, once configured, it operates reliably and efficiently. This scanner is a solid choice for businesses needing a portable and versatile scanning solution.

This reminds me of my early MS-DOS days learning something new. Frustration followed by elation, and then a new wall arrives, and the rest repeats itself. Everything is easy when you know how, so those who are as new to barcode readers as I am, will benefit from my experience. The confusion sets in when you pair this device via Bluetooth. It worked great with my iPhone. Then when I went to the PC that is where the confusion came in. I paired it, and then went to the app to use it, and the app said, "First you have to connect a device". Reconnected it one times too many.I did notice that there was this rectangular black plastic piece. It stubbornly stuck together so I didn't want to force the issue. When all else failed, I decided to look further into this black plastic piece, and with some stubbornness I managed to pull it apart. Out popped a USB stick. Wow, I plugged it onto my PC and bingo, all I had to do was for example click on a cell in Excel, aim the scanner at a bar code, squeeze the trigger, and lo and behold the code appeared on the screen.Okay enough of my journey, let us get item specific. This is a 2d barcode reader, and in fact it supports reading all the most common 1D & 2D barcodes and QR. You can get a reader that is a 1D that reads barcodes only but not QR. This reader is well made, supports sophisticated functions, and works admirably once you know how, when, and where, as well as what you can do with it. I wanted to be able to scan bar code and put the results in the Amazon search box and hopefully get a direct link to the product. No such luck. Microsoft store for PC's has discontinued the software programming to support it. So, to me the bottom line is that if you want to create a spreadsheet and have a column of each products bar code this is great for that. The battery life is great. As the description mentions, the size of the battery is much greater than most others, and a full charge provides up to a week of standby time. Those seasoned in the fine points of bar code, and QR scanners could get a lot more specific about some more fine points. I have embarked on a journey to learn a lot more about it. Every scan I have made has appeared without a glitch as long as I was using it within the confines of what the tool was made for.
