I'm replacing limit switches on my CNC mill. The originals were just mechanical switches that have has issues with stuff getting into them and causing problems. So I thought I would switch to inductive style switches. I ordered several styles to find what works the best. You will need to find out what style you require. There's both normally open vs normally closed as well as NPN vs PNP. Then there's 2 wire vs 3 wire. Finally some will have an LED light while others will not to indicate when the switch changes state. The LED light really helps when adjusting the sensor.Over all this sensor works just fine. They are non shielded so they aren't designed to work where there's metal close by that isn't what you want to trigger them. In my case the switches are out in the open. I also cut the wires relatively short so I could switch to shielded cable since I'm using a VFD controlled 3 phase motor. That can cause EMI. Inductive sensors work like a metal detector and are less effected by EMI.
