I had the 1st book & enjoyed it so much I ordered this 2nd book. Easy, fun & it promotes a love of Jazz!

This was required for a preteen's lessons. While it works as a teaching tool, the music is more familiar to previous generations and there's not much a kid is going to recognize ("In the Mood", St. James Infirmary"). It does teach basic Jazz and Blues styles and parents and grandparents will be singing along while the kid wonders "how do they all know the words"? It would be nice is the music were updated to include some current pieces or at least some scores from Aristocats and Titiana, but I'm sure those are bundled elsewhere. Still, musicians, even budding ones, can benefit from music history. Who doesn't want to jam to a boogie woogie beat?

This series and the Martha Mier books are a nice addition to the classical repertoire. I'm an upper intermediate player (around level 4), and this provides a nice not too difficult not too easy challenge. I would like to see more advanced books from Faber though in the same series, they stopped the jazz and blues at level 4 unfortunately.
