Classic studies for the Grade 2-5 player - among the best, if not the best. These pieces are truly inspiring, each being a characterful miniature in the romantic style first and foremost, and featuring a technical element second to this. They demand great musicality, and can be used as studies in interpretation as much as technique, and therefore make superb concert pieces. The standard evenly progresses from about Grade 2 to 5 UK, making it a great book for the 'rising' Grade One player to work through, along with other material, as repertoire. The later pieces are also great for a 'quick learner' or holiday piece for a Grade 6er. Although the challenges are real and varied, the writing possesses an accessibility for the student - no 'nasty surprises', clear understandable writing, a quick vision of the 'end game', and an easy 'way in'. They also 'work' at very varied tempi, making slow practice productive in working at the musical aspects, and providing inspiration for the student. An essential classic!
