Excellent material for two beginners. The progression from easy to challenging worked very well for us.

Recorder duets are hard to find so that beginners and intermediate students can play together. This book does the job well and I am pleased I have purchased it.

I like the variety of pieces, and they are enjoyable to play. There are ten songs in the collection, and the book contains a paragraph and portrait about each composer and details about each piece, which are nice features that give the players incite to the music. Because of the Covid, I haven't played the duets with a partner, but I have played the soprano recorder parts, and many make for nice solos! Both parts are on one score designed for intermediate or advanced players, some with triplets and trills. Personally, I prefer each part on face-to-face pages, which makes reading the music easier with two people playing. There is no glossary which might be helpful with some of the terminology. However, the book is very well presented, and the arrangements for the songs are winners.

I bought this book to play with a small group of adults. We are picking up the recorder again after many years. We found this book not really suitable for our purpose. The more difficult part is set very high which isn't the best key for the descant recorder although it sounds quit good on the tenor. The 'easy part' is very monotonous and actually quite hard to keep in time with the more difficult part.

I wouldn't say the easiest part is "very easy"--but doable for a student that has had instruction for a few months. Well written (easy to read) and good choices of melodies/fingerings for a beginner. With practice this will be something fun to share and this has been an incentive to practice more regularly and longer!
