Our grandkids love to hunt for grasshoppers! These kits "fit the bill" wonderfully!

The bug catcher set is pretty much how it looks, cheap and plastic but I'm not looking for high quality, long lasting outdoor toys for little kids either; they get abused, lost, broken, left outside. My little girl is obsessed with catching bugs, especially worms so this serves the purpose. The whistle is completely bizarre. Like others have said the magnifying glass is close to worthless. But little kids don't care. The cages are kind of flimsy but will still hold a worm, and the nets can be useful but are small. My little likes using the net for attempting to catch minnows.

My kids are terrified of bugs and often complain about bug when they see them outside. A bug could be 20ft away and they still get scared. I'm trying to remove that fear and desensitize them to bugs. I figured what better way then to get them outside and have them collect bugs. After showing them which stinging bugs to avoid, I sent them on their way. They had fun collecting bugs and suddenly they were not so scary anymore. I mean they still have their moments of fear if a bug flys too close to them but things have drastically improved. As for these kits, they're pretty good. The kids have no problems operating the tools or the enclosure. All-in-all, we're happy with this kit.

Yes, they are cheesy and totally cheapy plastic looking, but they are awesome and the kids love 'em. You get two sets, as pictured, one bright pink and one neon green one. The plastic magnifying glasses are exactly what you'd expect them to be - terrible - but they slightly enlarge and obscure your bug catch of the day and small children will love tinkering with them. The pincher tongues are helpful, for crushing and/or snatching things, that cannot be withstood being caught with bear hands. Our kids absolutely love these for catching all sorts of yard bugs and critters and moving them about. The doors slide open by rotating out and stay in place nice and securely, once closed, so your prized bug bounty does not escape and get loose in the house, unless permitted to do so intentionally.
