Even though this is the Amazon pick (at time of writing), it may not be what you are looking for. Rather than a full 16-pin 1:1 extension, it actually only connects the 8 most common pins.In many cases this may be all you need, but some functions may be unavailable on certain vehicles.To be fair, the fact that only 8-pins are connected can be found in the description of the cable being only 8-core, but I personally feel the title description is worded such that it is suggested to be a full 16-pin mapping.It didn't allow full functionality for me, so I returned it.

I have a few OBDII adapter devices for fault finding and data logging. Each devices tends to have its own strengths and weaknesses. As such I find myself plugging them in and out sometimes. I do worry about the wear and tear on the host OBDII socket and it's under the dash. This item means I can have easier access to the OBDII port and I'm not wearing down the contacts as much.It seems to work well enough with VAG cars. I've not noticed any difference in the logged values when using this cable.

A basic OBD extension cable.Have installed this on my old Nissan leaf so I can attach my bluetooth dongle permanently and run Leafspy to keep a check on my battery.This is ideal if your OBD port is in an inconvenient place ( like the leaf) and if you want to leave your scanner attached then this allows it to be relocated 'out of the way'.As in the pictures I still cant replace the cover but I will be filing the adapter down to see how close I can get and these aren't expensive anyway.Recommended.
