Great sounding amp, excellent build quality and very easy to set up has all the analog and digital connections you need. Matched well with mission QX2 speakers. 5 Stars.

There is an issue with the remote when the amp goes into standby. It will occasionally lock out the remote and require a restart. A bit of a pain but not a deal breaker. Great sound for the price point. In my opinion it’s internal DAC is better that the Node 2i its attached to. Overall it drops a point for the remote glitch but worth every penny.

Per chi come me vuole varcare il confine e regalarsi un'esperienza d'ascolto. Facile da usare e installare e anche bello da vedere.

£599 is supposedly budget level. I think that this is in the middle, not budget but not in the expensive ranges where you would find Roksan, Naim etc. With that said what do you get for your money. A 2 channel 50 Watt into 8 ohm amplifier with an inbuilt DAC, that will easily drive speakers of a higher sensitivity both bookshelf, and floor standers (I’m still using my Monitor Audio Bronze 2 bookshelf speakers without a problem). So what does it sound like? Its really good, and I now understand what people mean when they say it has excellent tonal balance. As a rule from amps in this sort of price range there will be limitations. The bass might not be good, the mids a bit flat, or the highs a bit harsh. However, not in this case. The bass from the 6000A was just there, not overpowering everything else, it was tight. The mids not a problem, I’ve heard better, but I’m not forking out £1500, and the highs, really nice. Also, it has what they call a nice sound stage, with my eyes closed listening to Where hides Sleep by Alison Moyet just now viols to the right, violins slightly to the left of that, Alison a little bit left of centre and guitars to my left.Onto the phono stage, it has an inbuilt moving magnet pre-amp circuit, which is good enough. An external one would be better if you are willing to spend at least £200 on one. Finally, the DAC. I do not think you would need to upgrade this at all for the lifetime of this amp. It has three settings of which I like the Slow setting the bestSo what if you want to upgrade to get more power? well you can set the amp to be a pre-amp and add the 8300 power amp which costs £1200, or buy two of the mono block versions for about £1900. Alternatively, you could buy a class D power amplifier. I hear good things about the Edge A2-300 box that costs about £465 but have not heard it.Is it worth the extra £200 to get the Play version, well not for me. I already use an August WR320 to provide the additional functionality connected by a TOS link cable (minus the Alexa bit). The bottom line is if you don’t have £599 to spend yet, then save a bit longer so you can at least audition it. If you are looking to spend under £1000, then put this on your short list and audition (I would still pick this one, but remember we are all different). Above that, and I think you are probably in a different market.EditFive months later I have moved house, and have a man cave (lol), the 6000A is now paired with a some Wharfdale Evo 4.2 speakers, wonderful combo if you are into pre 00's music like me. For our downstairs music pleasure I have purchased a second 6000A (that's how much I like it), but this time it is paired with B&W 606 S2 Anniversary speakers (as a result of room aesthetics dictated by my wife), another very good combo. It's a good job I had saved my pennies in a separate fund for this.So Still 5*, and still recommended auditioning material for anyone looking for an amplifier under £1000
