hmmm. intermediate to advanced, it says. at best i'd say intermediate to... well, about the same intermediatey. there's nothing really too challenging for anyone in here, it's a decent toot for a teacher and a student as a warm-up or reading exercises, but nothing to trouble the intermediate-plus or advanced player. and why they're 'transposed' i have no idea: they're basically the same 60 exercises but in a different key, and not even very hard keys.on the plus side, and i'm trying to be fair, they're a different set of duets than the ones in the actual arban tutor (the conservatoire edition), so if you've already got that then you'll get another 60 duets to tootle through, and this is a much lighter book since it's only the duets, without those 14 exercises that everyone kids themselves they can play but never actually look at and without all the widdly widdly sunday-afternoon-on-the-bandstand cornet solos, it's just 60 duets of low-to-middle difficulty in two different keys.otherwise delivery was bang on, condition is perfect, and it was only a tenner.

This is a compact and convenient set of the Arban's Sixty Duets for trumpet. I like the compact and convenient paperback format which makes it very easy to pack in a suitcase and take anywhere. These melodies are essential for the student, advanced and professional level trumpet player to develop and maintain the cantabile style. The slurs, dynamics, articulations, tempos, time signatures and notation are as found in the original Arban's and "easy on the eyes" to read. The transposed duets are also excellent for the development of aural flexibility and which can be sung in solfeggio, which will facilitate aural development and cantabile style. "If you can sing it you can play it". The transposed duets will also facilitate the student trumpet player to learn how to transpose. I recommend this CMW Publication.

As a professional trumpet player I’m always look for new material to work on. As a father of a child who is learning to play trumpet, I’m also looking for books that will pique his interest and allow us to make music together and not just work through “routines”. This book checks both boxes. Mr. Newman really hit a home run with this book by providing a book that is challenging enough to be fun for a more advanced player like myself yet accessible enough for a beginner like my son. Thank you very much, Larry for this wonderful book that is now in our rotation of “fun time” practicing.

The Arban's Sixty Duets edited by Larry E Newman introduces students and reminds teachers of the genius of the Arban's method. These duets are selected for their lyrical beauty that surrounds the new information of the day whether it be an interval etude or a rhythmic awakening. I found that as I played that even jaded ole me was reminded of an interval that I didn't hear correctly and a rhythmic pattern (or two) that made me stumble. But all the while I felt like I sounded great because of the beauty of the writing. Definitely deserves a place in the room. Bill Bodine, Los Angeles
