I’m building myself a new computer and needed but I need to connect a lot of peripherals and the motherboard doesn’t have enough USB ports.This 5 port USB 3 PCIE card was easy to install on my Windows 11 computer – It was recognised without the need for any extra drivers.There are five USB 3 ports on the back panel and a socket which can be used to add an extra two ports, although the necessary cable isn’t included.The card needs separate power and there are splitter cables supplied for Molex and SATA power plugs.In use it works well with data rates virtually the same as the motherboard’s built in USB ports, although these were limited by the speed of the drives I was using.

This card was a breeze to install, no drivers required for Windows 11. There is no header cable included, but this should be provided with you motherboard. It provides 5 USB-A sockets at the rear of your machine and allows a further two to be connected via the header cable. In testing it performed pretty well, but not nearly as well as the USB 3 port on my motherboard. The drive for this test was an NVME drive capable of read and write speeds greatly in excess of the USB 3 standard. I found the included SATA power supply lead to make no difference in performance.
